About Friendly
Friendly Vang-Johnson is the founder and principal of Friendly Hmong Farms. Born into a family of multigenerational Hmong farmers, she began farming at an early age. Determined to leave farm life behind, Friendly pursued higher education and served as a federal public servant for nearly two decades.
In the face of COVID pandemic, she flexed her three decades of community organizing skills. Blending her lived experience with her public policy background, she led and produced incredible outcomes for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color farmers and communities. Her extraordinary ability to inspire and mobilize people across different ages, classes, and ethnicities and races is evidenced by the accomplishments of Friendly Hmong Farms and the PNW BIPOC Farmland Trust.
